If you are here for the first time, you may want to quickly read through the lines below to understand what to expect.

About this site

AnshGita is an attempt to explain the philosophy of Bhagavad Gita in bitesize articles – in small fractions (“ansh” – अंश). This site is aimed at people in a hurry. Nearly all the articles would be a 3-minute read.

But these articles would also carry links to other articles with longer, deeper discussions – just in case you get interested and have time.

Target audience

It is aimed at people from 25 years to 50 years.

Teachings of Bhagavad Gita are aimed at working person near the prime of his life. Afterall, Shri Krishna recited it to Arjuna when Arjuna was in his prime (not near / after Arjuna’s retirement) and asked him to fight the war to defend “dharma (धर्म) – the just cause”.

About the writer

The articles on this site are written by a technocrat / entrepreneur who is now retired. Like many others, I started studying Bhagavad Gita after retirement (age of 55) and soon realized that I should have studied it since my 25th birthday. That would have made me happier, more at peace with myself, and probably also more successful in the worldly matters.

Like many graduates of my generation, my approach is more intellectual, to understand the philosophy behind the teachings rather than religious / devotional with unconditional acceptance of the teachings.

Approach to interpretation of Bhagavad Gita

My approach in studying Bhagavad Gita is not religious / devotional. If that is what you want, there are several excellent texts available. I have studied two such texts in detail – one in English and other in Marathi.

More information about those two volumes of books here:

  1. Bhagavad Gita Vol 1 to 9 by Swami Dayanand Saraswati (English) (TBD)
  2. सार्थ सुबोध ज्ञानेश्वरी अध्याय १ ते १८ – सौ. मनीषा अभ्यंकर (Marathi) (TBD)

The above links take you to the pages (on this same website) that give summary and information about where you can buy these books.

My approach to Bhagavad Gita is more from a philosophical / intellectual point of view. I tried to interpret how, and which teachings of Bhagavad Gita apply to which problems in today’s world.

How to navigate the site

The articles are not in the sequence in which Bhagavad Gita is recited. Instead, I tried to take a topic and then pick from all the verses (श्लोक) which cover that topic. Most of the times those verses are spread across different chapters (अध्याय).

You can go to the main menu (horizontal menu at the top of the page) and click on “Topics” (TBD) to get a list of topics. And from there on you can navigate to the article of your choice.
